Paramedic Tuition Assistance Program for EMTs (& EMT-Intermediates)

Paramedic Tuition Assistance Program for EMT-Basics

My company believes in growing our own medics.

To do this, we have developed an awesome Paramedic Tuition Assistance Program.

Here is how it works:

First, you apply for an EMT-Basic position with our company. If you are selected, you will start out in our wheelchair division for a short while. This allows you to orient yourself to our area and to get familar with our operations.

You will then be moved to our ambulance division, where you will work with a Paramedic partner on a 911 response ambulance. Our shifts are 24hrs on/48hrs off.

Once you are working on an ambulance, we want you to enroll in school to start taking your Paramedic prerequisite classes. Many of these can be taken through the local community college, and often can be taken online.

To help you out with these classes, you can receive an interest-free loan for up to half of the class costs. Many EMTs also get additional financial aid through the college and have minimal out of pocket expenses.

During your prerequisite classes, you can borrow up to $3000. You do not have to start paying this loan back until you have begun working for us at the Paramedic level.

Once you have completed your prerequisites, you can apply to a Paramedic program. When accepted, you can receive another interest-free loan for up to $10,000, paid directly to the Paramedic school.

During your time in Paramedic school, we offer flexible scheduling, as well as up to one PTO shift (paid time off) per month to give you extra time off to attend classes.

When you have completed your Paramedic training, and are working as an EMT-P out on your own, you begin paying back the loan via resonable payroll deductions.

If you work for our company for 2-years as a Paramedic, 1/2 of your Paramedic school loan is forgiven (up to $5000), i.e. you only have to pay back half of the loan!

Also, you keep your seniority with the company, so if your first two years with the company were spent getting your Paramedic degree, you would start out as a Paramedic on year 3 at the 3-year Paramedic pay level. (You also retain your vacation, etc.)

One important note, We do not hire long term EMT-Basics. ALL of the EMTs we hire are considered Paramedics-in-training and are expected to start schooling, and make continual progress towards their EMT-P degree, as a condition of employment.

This is usually not a problem. There is no other program like this in the state, and those who are fortunate enough to be selected for this are wanting to take full advantage of it.

(PLEASE NOTE: Since we are a private ambulance service, we are looking for EMT-Basics that are looking to build a career with our company. If your focus and career direction is aimed towards the Fire Service, then our opportunity would not be the program for you.)
