Rewarding Excellence via Monthly Bonuses

EMT & Paramedic Monthly Bonus PayMy company believes in rewarding excellence.

Through our PROPs program (Positive Recognition for Outstanding Performance), we reward the top two Paramedics and top two EMT-Basics in each of 5 different categories.

Categories vary from month to month, but can include such things as total transports, dry run %, collection rates, task times, hospital clear times, out of town transfers, response times, paperwork completion, going “above and beyond”,etc…

Each PROPs category is worth a bonus equal to 2% of your base pay for the month. So for instance, if you happen to be in the top two for 3 different categories, your bonus would be 6%. If you are tops in all 5 categories, your bonus is 10%.

PROPs is paid out on the second paycheck of every month.

Why pay PROPs bonuses you ask?

Well… unlike other companies that may simply “hound you” to perform better… we provide a financial reward. When motivating an employee… you can poke them with a stick… or you can hang a carrot from the stick.

We prefer the carrot method.

For instance… every medic in our company knows what their personal collection rate is. (i.e. what percentage of calls they run on actually end up being paid by the insurance company and/or customer).

We also are acutely aware how getting signatures, collecting accurate billing information, getting copies of insurance cards, etc… affects our individual collection rates.

No longer does the billing department have to “nag” the medics to get proper billing info. Heck, we are ALL trying to get a high collection rate (and pickup the bonus for the month) so it is “second nature” for us to get the information needed for billing.

Most people want to do a good job… so why not reward excellence and give the staff some extra pocket money in the process?

It’s a Win-Win situation for everyone!
